Coagulation Filtration Technology

Coagulation filtration is a process based on using an iron or aluminum salt to pre-treat water contaminated by arsenic, heavy metals, and dissolved solids. The addition of the salt acts to coagulate the contaminants so that removal using standard filtration can be achieved.  This process can be accomplished in large gravity settling basins or in pressure vessels for smaller systems.

AdEdge Technologies uses coagulation filtration to remove arsenic, iron, manganese, and sulfides with AD26 or ADGS+ media and ferric chloride as the coagulation agent.  This process allows significantly higher flow rates per square feet of media, less backwash water than other conventional approaches, and smaller footprint systems which means lower capital and operating costs.  There are no hazardous chemicals or waste involved and the systems may be automated which decreases operator involvement and expense.

General filtration media, such as AD140Z or AD400Z, may be enhanced with a coagulant such as aluminum sulfate to increase the quantity of dissolved solids removed.  This will improve the water quality appearance and make further treatment, such as disinfection, more effective and less expensive.
